Tui Na Massage and Reiki
What is Tui Na Massage?
Tui Na massage uses Traditional Chinese Medicine style theory, with the treatment delivered using a variety of massage styles and techniques. With some exceptions the treatment is conducted through a cloth or through clothing.
Like Acupuncture, Tui Na originated in China and other far eastern cultures where it still features in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with conventional western medicine. It is now widely used and accepted all over the world.
As a result of various lifestyle and environmental reasons, Qi can become disturbed, depleted or blocked which can result in symptoms of pain and illness. In certain instances, Tui Na can be an effective way to help restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony.
The Tui Na techniques are used on specific Acupuncture points on the body, on larger areas of the person and on along the actual Qi pathways in the body called meridians.
Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition as well as your main symptoms. This approach helps with resolving your problem as well as enhancing your feeling of well-being. You may notice other niggling health problems disappear at the same time.
The Tui Na practitioner will ask you about your medical history, take your pulse and look at your tongue. This enables him to decide where to to treat and to put together a personal treatment plan. Generally people find that Tui Na is also a relaxing and enjoyable experience, and for some, that relaxation is why they come.
What is Reiki?
REIKI is the therapy that I’ve practiced longest – 26 years.
While I started helping with Acupuncture in 2007, I began with Reiki back in 1998.
Over this time, I completed training levels:
1 and 2 twice with different reiki groups, and the 3rd level , also known as reiki master.
I see Reiki in simplistic terms, as a way of helping people relax and help them get back in touch with a sense of calm.
The highlights …
❓WHAT HAPPENS? You simply lie on the treatment couch, or sit, if that’s more comfortable, and the practitioner’s hands are either placed on you, or just above you, while you relax.
❓WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? Most often, people report feeling relaxed while noticing warmth or sometimes coolness from the practitioner’s hands.
❓WHERE MIGHT YOU COME ACROSS REIKI? As well as practitioners offering reiki privately, you might often find reiki linked to charity patient support centres.
